GaryVee Takes on VeeCon 2023 UNO Tournament Champion Live in NYC

On the final night of VeeCon 2023 in Indianapolis, IN, VeeFriends hosted an action packed 48-player UNO Tournament in partnership with our friends at Mattel. The prize for the champion? A luxurious, 1/1 Gary Bee collectible pin, a framed, uncut VeeFriends UNO sheet, AND the opportunity to take on the boss, GaryVee himself in a 1v1 UNO matchup live at VeeFriends HQ in NYC.

On Tuesday Dec 12th, tournament champion Eric Piccione and GaryVee faced off in this Beat The Boss Showdown. Streamed live across @VeeCon social media channels, not only was this entertaining for the players, but the thousands of viewers were captivated from the very first hand. This 60-minute competition was a spectacle to watch, coming down to the very final hand to determine a winner.

While Gary started off hot by winning the first match with ease, Eric never backed down, battling to the very last card every game. After 9 intense games, Eric took home the title with a final score of 5 games to 4. The final boss was indeed beaten, and Eric Piccione was crowned VeeFriends UNO Champion. Congrats Eric!

Fanatics Live Recaps of the Week

The VeeFriends Cards team was back on Fanatics Live this week for 3 action packed streams. On Tuesday 12/12, the stream was highlighted with monster pulls, including an Epic Profound Possum and a Rare "Rare" Robot. When one community member purchased a break spot, they were given one free pack, and inside it was none other than a Rare Very, Very, Very, Very, Lucky Black Cat!

The fun didn't stop there, and after Proudpapa1111 sent the team a dozen donuts while they were on stream, a donut eating competition ensued between Conor and Courtney. After Conor took home the win, he decided to auction off a rare box of Podcast Puffs alongside a Rare Competitive Clown slab and sealed pack of cards.

On this week's gameplay stream, the Chat took down Courtney in a clean sweep. After Conor stepped in to try to take down the chat, they beat him as well! Big week for the chat and a big week on Fanatics Live!

On Friday's stream, a very special (and adorable 🐕 ) guest joined the team for a short cameo. There was some alpha dropped, but we'll save that for those who caught it live. More info to come in 2024 👀 .

Behind The PFP - Mandi

Name: Mandi

Twitter Handle: @LadyMandi_Pants

Hometown: Branson, Missouri

Bio:

With over 25 years in the entertainment and attractions industry, This middle child of a preacher has mastered various roles from performer, box office management, lighting, wardrobe, park operations and now stage management for the Showboat Branson Belle in Branson Missouri where she has been working 11–14 shows a week for the past 8 years.

Whether dazzling under the spotlight or orchestrating behind the scenes, her passion is making people laugh and attempting to create a safe space where people can learn and grow. Her motto is "lead by serving", believing that genuine connection and a well timed joke can make any day brighter.

Outside the world of theater production, Mandi enjoys being surrounded by nature and animals, indulging in good food and fine wine, while spending quality time with her partner Jake, close friends or her adoring family — because a life well lived is the best show of all.

What VeeFriends Means to Mandi:

Being part of the VeeFriends Community is almost like reliving the magic of summer camp, it has helped her create genuine connections while embracing the positive energy embedded in each VeeFriends character. The diverse and uplifting traits of the VeeFriends have helped guide her focus towards what truly matters, injecting joy into her daily pursuits. This community has not only introduced her to like-minded individuals, but also opened doors to unexpected circles, like the BeeStoic group where shared wisdom and conversations of life's challenges has helped her rein in her control issues and anxiety, finding strength in stoic principles.

She has become a VeeFriends collector because each character embodies something she wholeheartedly believes in, turning a "collection" into a testament of shared values and the incredible power of kindness and community.

Favorite VeeFriends Character:

Mandi: I have a hard time picking just one, but I have to say Patient Panda. Firstly, because my mom has ALWAYS called me her Amanda-Panda. Secondly because I've had to learn that patience truly is a virtue. Patience enables individuals to navigate challenges and setbacks with a calm and composed demeanor, aiding in the ability to get through difficult situations without becoming frustrated. Patience also contributes to building relationships, fostering understanding and empathy.

Fun Fact:

According to Mandi, she communicates better through writing than speaking, and can sing with her mouth closed!
