VeeFriends Comic Book #24: Fish University introduces Bashful Blobfish, a shy newcomer navigating the challenges of fitting in at an underwater university where the pressure to sink or swim is very real. Surrounded by outgoing classmates, unfamiliar faces, and the expectations of college life, Bashful Blobfish struggles to find his place. But as he meets a colorful cast of fellow VeeFriends, he'll discover what it takes to make true friends and find your voice.

Fish University features the debuts of Outgoing Octopus, Swaggy Sea Lion, Spontaneous Seahorse, Macho Manta Ray, Candid Clownfish, and Joyous Jellyfish. Created by Gary Vaynerchuk, this issue has a story and art by Ali Sene Castro, who returns after writing and illustrating VeeFriends Comic Book #14 Doggy Daycare.

The issue also features two special variant base covers by Jim Rugg and Rachel Hoo, along with more rare variant covers and original sketch covers in the full run of 24,000 copies!

Meet Bashful Blobfish

Sink or swim! That's the challenge facing Bashful Blobfish as he arrives at Fish University, an underwater college filled with new faces, unfamiliar surroundings, and endless opportunities to make a first impression. There's just one problem: Bashful Blobfish isn't exactly comfortable putting himself out there. From the lively atmosphere of his dorm to the overwhelming experience of meeting new people, every interaction presents another challenge for a fish who struggles to come out of his shell.

Can Bashful Blobfish overcome his insecurities, make new friends, and find his place? Or will the pressures of university life pull him even deeper underwater?

Meet The Students At Fish U

Fish University is home to a colorful cast of underwater personalities, each bringing something different to campus life.

At the center is Bashful Blobfish, an anxious freshman struggling to find his footing in an unfamiliar environment. His roommate, Outgoing Octopus, is a friendly, energetic sophomore who has no trouble putting himself out there.

Then there's Macho Manta Ray, a larger-than-life fifth-year senior, and Spontaneous Seahorse, who prefers to go with the flow. Sophisticated Stingray brings a more polished perspective, while Candid Clownfish isn't afraid to speak his mind. Joyous Jellyfish keeps spirits high, and Swaggy Sea Lion has confidence to spare.

Together, these eight characters bring a mix of personalities, perspectives, and experiences to Fish University, setting the stage for a story about friendship, belonging, and learning to be yourself.

Cover A by Ali Sene Castro

VeeFriends Comic Book #24 reunites readers with Ali Sene Castro, the writer and artist behind Doggy Daycare, which marked her first published comic book.

The Los Angeles-based artist is known for her online webcomics and animatics, as well as a distinctive visual style that blends hyper-feminine aesthetics with darker, moodier undertones. For Fish University, Castro takes on both storytelling and illustration, bringing the underwater campus and its colorful cast of characters to life. Ali Sene Castro is a full-time creator on the VeeFriends Comics team.

Cover B by Rachel Hoo

Fish University features a special Cover B by Rachel Hoo, an artist known for her pop-culture illustrations and fan artwork on Instagram. Although Hoo has yet to publish a comic book story of her own, her artwork has earned her a significant following online with over 100,000 followers. Hoo works as the Creative Director at Tamara Group in New York City, Gary Vaynerchuk's creative and media agency.

Comic Book #24 continues the VeeFriends new three-cover format with a special Cover C illustrated by Jim Rugg, an acclaimed cartoonist known for Hulk: Grand Design, Street Angel, The PLAIN Janes, and Octobriana 1976 (the first blacklight comic book ever published). Rugg currently serves as Creative Producer on the VeeFriends Comics team.
